AVAST is so stupid that it blocks PTBSync without showing you any warning. It does not allow to write into the folder "My Documents"!
You must explicitely unblock PTBSync in the configuration of AVAST, or better uninstall that crap.

Recommended Download for Windows 10, 11:   Adobe Flash Player
If you like the PTBSync Flash clocks you need the Adobe Flash Player.
But sadly it is no longer possible to install Adobe Flash on Windows 10 or Windows 11.

If you want to display the PTBSync Flash clocks on your desktop, ElmüSoft offers an individual solution for you:

Download  Manual Adobe Flash Installer   (25 MB)
Recommended Download for Windows 11:   Explorer Patcher
In Windows 11 Microsoft has crippled the taskbar.
The quickstart icon area has been removed.
The taskbar cannot be displayed vertically anymore.

Valentin-Gabriel Radu has found that the Windows 10 taskbar still exists hidden in the Windows 11 Explorer.
After installing Explorer Patcher, right click the taskbar, in the menu select 'Properties'.
Then switch to the Windows 10 taskbar and click 'Restart File Explorer'.

This project is also based on reverese engineering of Windows Explorer.
PTBSync has been tested to cooperate with this software.

Download  Explorer Patcher (ep_setup.exe)   (1,7 MB)
Recommended Download for Windows 7, 8, 10, 11:   Classic Shell
After the era of Windows XP Microsoft has continuously deteriorated the startmenu.
If you want a user configurable startmenu back, install Classic Shell from Ivo Beltchev.

It has a ton of features for the startmenu and the taskbar:
  • Highly customizable start menu with sub-menus and multiple styles and skins
  • Quick access to recent, frequently-used, or pinned programs
  • Find programs, settings, files and documents
  • Start button in the Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and custom style
  • Toolbar and status bar for Windows Explorer
This project is also based on reverese engineering of Windows Explorer.

Older Versions (PTBSync History since 1999):

New in Version 6.7b:
The weather server has been modified so that the city search did not work anymore.
PTBSync has been adapted to the changes on the weather server.

New in Version 6.7:
Trayclock adapted to Microsoft's changes in KB 5022913 (Windows 11, Build 22621.1344)
Bugfix: After changing upper/lowercase of an event, this change was not stored.

New in Version 6.6e:
Bugfix: Trayclock menu was not displayed correctly with high Windows scaling factors.

New in Version 6.6d:
Bugfix: Trayclock font was too big and wrong desktop background with scaling factors 125%, 150%, etc
Bugfix: The PTBSync service did not adjust the clock when another program has set it wrong.
Bugfix: Wrong desktop template positions were saved when additional monitor was connected / disconnected.

New in Version 6.6b and 6.6c:
Bugfix: Trayclock disappeared when taskbar was in mode "Automatically hide".

New in Version 6.6:
The trayclock has been rewritten for Windows 11.
Microsoft has removed the old Windows trayclock and replaced it with a completely different technology (XAML).
I had to re-write the PTBSync trayclock entirely. This was the work of an entire month.
Once again I had to do the difficult work of reverse engineering Windows Explorer.
Reverse Engineering means to work in an area where absolutely no documenation exists.
And once again Microsoft has changed the way how the desktop wallpaper is generated.
If you use PTBSync 6.6 on Windows 11 please don't forget to give an Extra Donation.

New in Version 6.5c:
Now you can chose in Template Weather if you want to see today or tomorrow as the first forecast day.
Many new symbols for the calendar. PTBSync has 275 images now.
It is very difficult to find images with the tiny size of 16x16 pixel in high quality and transparent. Thanks to Tineke!
Tooltip display longer now. (32 seconds is the maximum that Windows permits)

New in Version 6.5b:
This version contains an important bugfix.
Please update whatever version you have!

New in Version 6.5:
New weather parser and city search for the new weather server.
The new weather server neither requires city codes nor is it based on weather stations.
It calculates the weather for any place on planet earth.
It only needs the geographical coordinates for that.
The new weather server delivers the day forecast for 9 days and the hour forecast for 12 hours.

PTBSync allows now to store multiple cities and to change to another city with 3 clicks.
The calendar allows to use symbols in PNG format.
The symbols have been replaced and extended with images of better quality.
Bugfix in the installer, which showed a backslash instead of the folder.
Template PC Info now also displays the Windows 10 release number.
Holidays updated.

New in Version 6.4:
In Windows 10 build 18282 Microsoft has added a new bright desktop theme to the old dark desktop theme.
Microsoft has modified all theme names in the taskbar and trayclock, so PTBSync again shows Error 309.
PTBSync has been adapted to the breaking changes in this Windows version.

New in Version 6.3f:
Links in the desktop calendar are opened in the default browser on Windows 10.
It is also possible to import expired events.
Holidays updated and added.

New in Version 6.3e:
The template PC_Info also displays the country in the field "Internet IP".

New in Version 6.3d:
PTBSync now also plays MP3 sounds.
Some of the Wav files were very old and bad quality. All Wav files have been replaced with high quality MP3 files.
Added two new sounds.
Problem with not functioning autostart solved.
Additional checks in the installer for some very special cases that users have reported.
A problem with the time zone editor has been fixed.
Holidays updated.

New in Version 6.3c:
Fixes the error 5004 which appeared only on Windows 10 - 32 bit.
Apart from that Microsoft has changed once again the trayclock in build 15063.

New in Version 6.3b:
In Windows 10 build 15048 Microsoft has once again modified the trayclock and PTBSync showed Error 309 anew.

New in Version 6.3:
With the update of Windows 10 to build 14393 a new button has been added at the right side of the clock. But this is not the problem.

At the same time Microsoft has modified the Windows clock itself, once again breaking functionality that has existed since Windows 95.
During the last 22 years Windows always asked the trayclock how much space it needs and adapted the size of the clock dynamically to it's content.
But in build 14393 this mechanism has been removed completely which resulted in a cropped text beeing displayed in the PTBSync trayclock.
If you have modified the time format in control panel you can remove this workaround now.

New in Version 6.2c + d:
This version fixes a problem with the background image on multiple monitors on Windows 10.

New in Version 6.2:
Once again Microsoft made incompatible changes in Windows 10.
When you update to build version 14332 you will get an error 309 from older PTBSync versions when starting the Trayclock.
The reason is that Microsoft has changed the bahaviour of the Windows themes.
This was a difficult fix because the internal functioning of the Windows clock is completely undocumented.

New in Version 6.1b:
Fixed some very particular problems that have been reported by some users.
NOTE: If your PTBSync 6.1 is running fine, you do not need this update.

New in Version 6.1:
The problem with the download server has been solved.
PTBSync 6.0 was already running perfectly on the Windows 10 preview, but before the final realease Microsoft has changed some more things.
Version 6.1 has been adapted once again to the final Windows 10.
Errors during the installation have been fixed.

New in Version 6.0:
PTBSync has been adapted to Windows 8 and Windows 10 preview.
(It is really strange that there were bugs in PTBSync 5.8 and nobody ever reported them!)
The desktop calendar works now correctly with all 6 desktop wallpaper modes and with slideshow and on multiple monitors.
The trayclock has been changed for Windows 10.
Additionally PTBSync uses a newer graphics library that supports all image formats.
Holidays updated.
Note: PTBSync 6.0 requires at least Windows XP with Servicepack 2.

New in Version 5.8:
Some people reported to get an error from the weather server: "Invalid location provided".
The reason is that Weather.com has changed the codes of some cities and other cities were removed or added.
New Feature: Online city search.
New Feature: Jump to the geographical location in Google Maps.
Holidays updated.
Download PTBSync 5.8
NOTE: This is the last version that runs on Windows 2000. (For even older operating systems see below)

New in Version 5.7c:
Waking up the computer from StandBy / Hibernate adapted to Windows 7.

Bugfix: When synchronizing with an atomic clock PTBSync does not tell anymore that the clock runs exact in the year 2080.
New calculation feature for holidays allows to define the year in which a holiday was introduced or ceased.
Note field for holidays.

New in Version 5.5b:
Workaround for a Microsoft bug that resulted in error 193 when starting the PTBSync service.

New in Version 5.5:
PTBSnyc had to be adapted to Microsoft's changes in Internet Explorer 9 that does not show PNG graphics anymore the same way as his predecessors.
This has affected (not only) the weather template.

New in Version 5.4c:
PTBsync can now connect to the internet through a Proxy server that requires autentication. (User/Password)
This allows in a restrictive company network to retrieve weather data, display Internet IP, synchronize the clock via HTTP time server, check for updates, etc.
The Proxy settings must be entered into Internet Explorer.

New in Version 5.4b:
Bugfix of a bug that affected ONLY version 5.4: PTBSync Service did not adjust the clock

New in Version 5.4:
New Template_Calendar_Clock_Flash: Analog Flash Desktop Clock with several themes. ( Screenshot )

New Feature: In addition to the daily forecast the Weather template can display a forecast of the next hours (Screenshot)
